Know what stays on your Mac.
In Local Mode, meeting audio, transcripts, summaries, questions, and meeting-history search can stay on your Mac. Synthezia does not need a cloud transcription service to process your recording.
What happens in Local Mode
Audio is prepared locally before transcription. Retained managed audio is protected in an encrypted local vault.
The transcription model runs on your Mac. The recording does not need to be uploaded to a transcription service.
Local AI can create summaries and answer questions about a meeting without sending that text to an external AI provider.
Meeting-history search is built from data stored locally on the Mac before an answer is generated.

Optional external AI

If you connect a compatible external AI provider, Synthezia can send the question and selected meeting context needed for the request you make.

Search across your meeting history remains local even when an external provider is used to generate the final answer.
Storage and deletion
Your local data stays under your control.
Meeting data
Meeting metadata, transcripts, summaries, and search data are stored on your Mac. Sensitive application records use encrypted local database storage, and retained managed audio is stored in an encrypted local vault.
Deleting a meeting
Deleting a Synthezia meeting removes the app-managed local records and related search data. It does not delete the original source file if you imported it from another location on your Mac, and it cannot remove copies retained by an external AI provider.
Offline use
Initial setup may require Internet access to download local transcription and AI models. Once the required models are installed, Local Mode can work offline.
Recording consent
You remain responsible for following applicable recording, notification, workplace, confidentiality, and consent rules.
