What is Synthezia?
Synthezia is a local-first meeting intelligence app for Apple Silicon Macs. You can record or import meetings, transcribe them locally, create structured summaries, ask questions about a meeting, and use Premium Global Chat to search across your meeting history.
Does Synthezia upload my meeting audio to the cloud?
Not in Local Mode. Recording, transcription, summaries, meeting chat, and meeting-history search can stay on your Mac. If you choose to connect an external AI provider, Synthezia can send the question and selected meeting context to that provider for the request you make.
Does Synthezia require a meeting bot?
No. Synthezia works from recordings created on your Mac or media files you import. It does not need to join a meeting as a participant or bot.
Does Synthezia work offline?
Yes. After the required local models have been downloaded during setup, Local Mode can work offline. Internet access is still needed for model downloads, Premium activation or revalidation, and any external AI provider you choose to use.
Does Synthezia record meetings?
Yes. Microphone recording is currently beta. On compatible macOS configurations, system-audio capture is also available in beta and may require Screen Recording permission.
Does Synthezia support speaker diarization?
Not today. Synthezia does not currently provide automatic speaker diarization and speaker relabeling.
What can I export?
Synthezia currently exports structured summaries as Markdown, PDF, and Word documents. Plain-text transcript export is not currently available.
What does Premium add?
Premium is built for the value that grows as your meeting history gets larger. It adds Global Chat across meetings, custom summary templates, PDF and Word exports, and the option to connect your own compatible AI provider.
Free, Premium and billing
Local ownership does not end when a subscription does.
Does Free require an account?
No. The local Free workflow does not require a Synthezia account.
What happens to my local data if Premium ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your meetings, transcripts, summaries, exports, and other local data remain on your Mac. Premium features are simply unavailable until you subscribe again.
Can I cancel Premium?
Yes. You can manage or cancel Premium from the billing portal. Cancelling stops future renewal and does not delete your local Synthezia data.
Can I restore Premium after reinstalling?
Yes. Premium can be restored with the email used for billing after reinstalling Synthezia or moving to another Mac.
